Watch the Osprey Live
Our Osprey pair is back! They arrived early in March 2019, which is a good sign that this is our pair, Captain and The Lady.
Advances in technology give us the pleasure of watching wild animals in their natural habitat. Explore.org has cameras for bears, birds, ocean life, penguins and the list goes on.
During spring 2018, Tyler and the staff of onSpot wifi stepped into a lift, ascended 50’, and wired an Osprey nest at Herrington Harbour. They replaced an old intermittent webcam with a 24-hour live streaming camera. We also cleaned the nest off the platform last year so the Osprey could build a new nest. What we didn’t expect was for them to make the new nest twice as big as the one before!
The larger nest limited the camera view of the nest, so we made some adjustments this year. Back up in the lift went onSpot wifi and Adam, Assistant Harbourmaster. The camera was raised about a foot, and the new view captures the nest and perch they like to sit on.
Cross your fingers for some activity this year. You can watch live webcams showing animals from all over the world. However, there’s nothing like watching the one in our own backyard.
